Milestone Ministry

What is a Milestone?

A milestone is a meaningful, memorable moment in the lives of individuals and communities.

What is Milestones Ministry?

Milestones Ministry provides a faith milestone (an actual stone or other physical gift) as a marker along life’s journey that says, “This is something important, and God is here, too.” It is a faith formation practice for both home and congregation that helps all generations recognize God’s presence in everyday life. Milestones Ministry offers the following benefits:

  • Helps households and the congregation nurture the Christian faith through life’s milestones, such as baptism, weddings, confirmation, beginning school, getting a driver’s license, graduation, anniversaries, retirement and many more.

  • Provides an opportunity to connect faith with daily life experiences.

  • Promotes Christian faith formation and recognizing God’s presence in our daily lives.

Why recognize Milestones?

Milestones Ministry lifts up important principles that lead to a vibrant faith: it fosters healthy faith-forming relationships; it partners home and congregation in vibrant ministry; it lifts up the home as a primary setting to be the church in the world; it allows people to experience the faith so it may be caught in daily life occasions; and it honors the role of adults in the Christian formation of children and youth.

What Milestones will we be Celebrating?

Throughout the course of the year, our faith community will be celebrating many different milestones.  Some of these milestones are celebrated with the congregation in worship.  Others are celebrated on an individual basis at work or at home or at other gatherings. Our hope is that as we continue to celebrate Milestones in the lives of those in the faith community that this list will continue to expand.
